SNL kicked off with Ashley Padilla's parody of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt leading a chaotic press briefing, attempting to convince reporters that the released Epstein emails proved "President Trump did nothing wrong." NBC On Nov. 12, after House Democrats subpoenaed the Jeffrey Epstein estate for unredacted "documents and communications" back in August, they released more information that included a series of emails that mention the current president of the United States. When a reporter asked about the "20,000 Epstein emails" and why Trump's name appears in so many of them, Padilla's Leavitt shut it down. NBC Then, Johnson's Trump mocked the president's relationship with Epstein and many photos of them together that have circulated on the internet. NBC At the end of the sketch, Austin's Trump suggested he would release the files, but only "on sale for the low, low price of $800." NBC Based on the reactions to SNL's cold open, people have really accepted that we are not only living in "the worst timeline," but also that this entire ordeal is playing out in a ridiculous manner.
