Here are 19 celeb couples whose divorces completely transformed people's opinions of them. We also used responses from the BuzzFeed Community on the original posts and comments from this Reddit thread, among others (which are linked). 1. It was confirmed back in February that Lily Allen and David Harbour had split, but their divorce is still making headlines in the wake of Allen's revealing new album. West End Girl detailed their open marriage but also accused Harbour of an affair that was outside the scope of what they had agreed to (in particular, that they could only sleep with strangers; a 34-year-old costume designer, Natalie Tippett, has now claimed to have had an affair with Harbour). The songs portrayed Harbour in a pretty bad light, and it seemed some people's opinion of the Stranger Things star was affected. There's no use in that form of engaging [with tabloid news] because it's all based on hysterical hyperbole," Harbour said when asked about the breakup, declining to comment further as it "won't serve anyone or anything other than encouraging 'a salacious shitshow of humiliation.'" After commenting on the nature of negative and positive attention as a celebrity, he added, "I'm human. I'm working through stuff."Also, FYI, Allen claimed that not everything on the album was fact, saying it was about what she "experienced within [her] marriage, but that's not to say that it's all gospel." Instead, the songs were "inspired by what went on in the relationship." "He comes across as a little slimy but redeemable, but I guess he's just slimy," Reddit user prosthetic_memory recently wrote on Reddit. However, there was also plenty of backlash toward Allen, with user Livid-City-6251 writing, "They're both super shitty people, it seems." Scrolling on X reveals similar takes, with many referring to both as terrible people and "creeps" and pointing to some of Allen's past problematic behavior. The split was reported in September, and neither party has revealed why they separated, though a source claimed they'd been drifting apart for a while. However, it seems that public opinion has been in Kidman's favor, perhaps due to reports that she was attempting to salvage the marriage (though it was Kidman who officially filed for divorce). These rumors grew after Urban changed lyrics to one of his songs that referenced Nicole to reference 25-year-old Maggie Baugh, with whom he was touring as part of his show, The Road, which features artists vying to be his opening act. While this is pure speculation, people have run with the rumors. "Team Nicole. Stop reading shit into it." Neither Kidman nor Baugh has addressed the cheating rumors. 3. Another long-term Hollywood couple who split somewhat recently? Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, who announced their split in September 2023 and finalized their divorce this summer. The move shocked Hollywood, as the two seemed like they'd go the distance. At the time, the split seemed amicable, with the two releasing a joint statement about their journeys shifting into two separate paths. However, some were suspicious of Jackman's reasons for the split, especially considering his close friendship with his costar for Broadway's The Music Man, Sutton Foster.
