Kate Gosselin has a system to organize holiday presents for her eight children. "Years and years ago when my kids were teenagers, I started asking them around Thanksgiving ... to make me a list," Gosselin, 50, said in a Wednesday, November 12, TikTok video. "I always tell them to number the list and start with the most important thing that they want the most at the very top and go down from there." Kate has requested that her children, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Jon Gosselin, share an online sales link, a size, a color and a price for each listed entry. "They will list all of those things, and I will put it in the notes of my phone. I will always write, like, 'Mady's Christmas List' and the year," she said. "I use little Christmas emojis so I can easily pull it up in my lists on my phone." Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin's Family Album With 8 Kids After the Gosselin kids - twins Mady and Cara, 25, and sextuplets Hannah, Alexis, Leah, Joel, Aaden and Collin, 21 - supply their lists, Kate begins shopping. "As far as budget, the kids always know that we have good years and bad years," Kate explained. "In the years that we have good years, I can usually go down their list and even add some more things. In not good years, I do as much as I can from their lists, but they love when I improvise and add surprise things. It makes them very happy." According to Kate, deviating from the kids' lists makes holiday shopping even more fun for her. "Otherwise, it's like, 'Click, order, click, order.' It doesn't feel from the heart," she said. "I like to add little things. Sometimes it [will be] funny things, like, Aaden is obsessed with hot sauce, so one year I got him a pack of hundreds of little individual hot sauce packets he can pack in his lunch for school. He thought it was great." In terms of her annual budget, Kate calculates an amount per child based on the total cost of the first submitted list. "When I feel like the list would [make] good Christmas [presents], I stop there and tailor everyone else's after that," the Kate Plus 8 alum said. "Not to say, if I'm shopping and I get to my budget amount for Cara and then I go swiftly over it for Leah, which happens, then I have to adjust up everyone's list." Kate Gosselin Confirms Daughter Hannah Has 'Always' Been in Contact With Her To make sure the gift sums are equal, Kate follows her mom's traditions and provides each child an envelope of cash "down to the pennies" to make sure everyone receives presents of equal value. "Fair is really important, and it was obviously important [to my mom]," Kate added. "I write, 'To Joel, $109,' and every year I'll stick a new label on top of [the same gift box]. They know at the very end when they get all their gifts, they get their square box. Sometimes, not everyone gets their square box, [which] means I finish their list completely. People have gotten $10, some people have gotten $150 [because] they don't ask for much." In addition to individual presents, Kate will also procure "one family gift" for all of her offspring. "This year it's a game I learned when I was in New Zealand, and I want to teach it to my kids," Kate said. "We're getting that, but we also do a cup game, which is the absolute highlight of our Christmas."
