Justin Baldoni continues to deny Blake Lively's claims that he ever fat-shamed the actress. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, November 13, Baldoni, 41, and his legal team responded to Lively's accusations of "fat-shaming." "This allegation is based on a single instance in which Baldoni, who had chronic back problems and anticipated a scene in which he would have to lift Lively up, privately asked a physical trainer he had consulted with, who also trained Lively, about her weight," court documents state. "He did so discreetly, outside the workplace and outside Lively's hearing." Baldoni's team continued, "Even if this inquiry was, as Lively now portrays it, a sly criticism, any petty slight that might have arisen when the trainer, on his own initiative, repeated the comment to Lively, is simply too trivial to constitute sexual harassment." In December 2024, Lively, 38, sued her It Ends With Us costar and director for sexual harassment. According to the suit, Baldoni's alleged behavior caused Lively "severe emotional distress." The lawsuit alleges that there was a meeting conducted to address Lively's claims that there was a "hostile work environment" on set. Per the lawsuit, some of her demands that were addressed included "no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous 'pornography addiction,' no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight and no further mention of Blake's dead father." After Lively filed her lawsuit in December 2024, Baldoni's lawyer addressed the actress' "completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious" accusations in a statement to Us, claiming that Lively filed the lawsuit to "fix her negative reputation" and "rehash a narrative" regarding the film's production. In January, the actor filed his own lawsuit against the actress. In June, however, the case was dismissed. "As we have said from day one, this '$400 million' lawsuit was a sham, and the court saw right through it," Lively's attorneys said in a statement after the judge's ruling. According to court documents filed Wednesday, November 12, Lively's team claims multiple individuals "were involved in directly or indirectly" of "amplifying, boosting or suppressing" information regarding Lively or Baldoni "to influence the online social and media narrative regarding them, including by way of criticizing and propounding false narratives about Ms. Lively's allegedly problematic on-set behavior, and/or being a 'bully' or 'mean girl.'" Lively's legal team previously claimed that she suffered $161 million in damages due to Baldoni's alleged "smear campaign." Her team claimed the potential financial losses include $56.2 million for past and future earnings attached to the Another Simple Favor star's acting and producing career as well as from speaking engagements and endorsements.
