King Charles III was allegedly "horrified" by the request and said no. Their mother, Queen Elizabeth II, however, previously "passed the request through." _ The refusal from King Charles III is part of an effort to streamline the royal family's spending. "The palace began to shift, not loudly, but unmistakably. His mark was there, quiet but undeniable," Robert Jobson wrote of the monarch. One senior insider reportedly told him, "This isn't about financial cuts. ... It's about getting value for money and efficiency. According to the Daily Express, in the 2024 to 2025 financial year, the official net expenditure of The Firm was $111,910,626.00 - a decrease of four percent compared with the previous year.
