Vanessa Marcil is proud of herself - and that pride extends to her son, Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green. "I was raised in a very bad neighborhood. Chicano family members older & younger than me were in gangs, sold drugs, and some are sex workers. (Respect) Coming from where I came from it is unheard of what I've gone on to achieve & what my son has achieved," the actress wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 8, alongside a throwback photo from her pregnancy with Kassius, now 23, whom she shares with ex Brian Austin Green. Marcil, 57, continued: "The risks Kass & I are both willing to take in life as artists choosing the path less traveled IS the outcome. The journey, the struggle IS the outcome. Do what you love. Don't have a safety net. Don't settle for a back up plan. You will never look back and regret having your freedom. Take the risk. Art is meant to disturb, to disrupt, to make you feel something. If you aren't willing to feel the bad you will also miss out on the joy. If you do the same thing that a man would do? You will be called a bitch. Go be a bitch...." Marcil began her career in 1992 as Brenda Barrett on General Hospital, where she appeared on and off until 2013. She is also known for her roles as Gina Kincaid on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Sam Marquez on Las Vegas. Currently, Marcil spends her days advocating for single mothers and animal rescues. She works closely with the SoCal French Bulldog Rescue and the California Cleft Pup Rescue, in addition to her work helping dogs in need of a forever home. Brian has also stood by his son, telling Lance Bass on his "Frosted Tips" podcast in 2023 that although it was "challenging" at first, he fully supports Kassius. "I would get into these conservations with Kash where it was like I really wanted to understand the things that seemed so different to me at first," Green said at the time.
