Jeremy Renner has reportedly taken legal steps after director Yi Zhou made bombshell accusations about their alleged romance and breakup. Renner, 54, sent Zhou, 34, a cease and desist letter through his attorney Marty Singer, according to a Saturday, November 8, TMZ report. The outlet reported that Renner alleged he agreed to participate in Zhou's Chronicles of Disney documentary before she came onto him romantically. Renner claimed that he and Zhou had a "brief consensual encounter," but that he turned down her alleged advances for a sexual relationship. In his legal letter obtained by TMZ, Renner implored Zhou to stop spreading what he described as "salacious lies" and exploiting his name and likeness. The Avengers star threatened further legal action if she doesn't comply with his request. Zhou, for her part, claimed to TMZ that she sent Renner three cease and desist letters of her own over the past month, warning the actor that he was in danger of defaming or blackmailing her. Jeremy Renner Denies Threatening to Call ICE on Director Yi Zhou Neither Renner nor Zhou have further addressed the cease and desist letters. Us Weekly has reached out to reps for both stars for comment. Zhou recently claimed that Renner had sent her a "string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself" several months ago via DMs and WhatsApp. "He convinced me of his sincerity, saying he had been single for a long time and open to a long-term relationship," Zhou wrote via Instagram on Monday, November 3, referring to the Marvel actor. "I believed in him, in the power of love, and in the possibility of redemption." Zhou also alleged that Renner "refused" to promote Chronicles of Disney or publicly deny rumors that the film was AI-generated after they went their separate ways. "When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me," she claimed on Monday. "Such behavior is unacceptable and emblematic of the imbalance of power that continues to harm women in our industry." Hollywood's Sexual Misconduct Scandals She continued, "It is with deep regret, sadness, and disappointment that I am compelled to share a truth I have been holding inside for too long. Over the past months, I have lived with fear for my safety and deep distress over the treatment I have endured. No woman, filmmaker, or creative should have to work under such emotional and psychological pressure while trying to protect her name and the integrity of her work." According to Zhou, it took her "a long time" to work up the courage to share her side of the story. "I thank my team, my agents / managers and friends / other women who supported me in voicing such a pain and humiliation I still have inside as I am typing these posts," she concluded. Renner, for his part, has vehemently denied Zhou's claims. "These allegations are totally inaccurate and untrue," Renner's rep told Us in a Friday, November 7, statement, specifically responding to the speculation he threatened to call immigration agents or sent unwanted NSFW images of himself. Zhou responded to Renner's denial in a social media statement several hours later. "I will no longer comment as we need to focus on our work and awards campaign," she wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 8. "l pass on the mic to the other women who have spoken up."
