Brotherly Love Podcast On an Nov. 7 episode of the Brotherly Love Podcast, with his real-life brothers Andy and Matthew Lawrence, the 49-year-old actor shared the story behind the noticeable bruising and scars on his face. Gilbert Flores / Variety via Getty Images "So, here's the story. I was doing with my youngest daughter, Dilly, I was pushing her. She loves to be pushed like on a roller coaster," Joey began. "She jumped into these Amazon boxes and she's like, 'Box ride!' So, I push her through the hallways, through the house. And I've done this, by the way, a hundred times with her." Brotherly Love Podcast "Downstairs, we can go all the way from the front door all the way to the back door, and there's this one threshold between the dining room and the kitchen area where it goes from hardwood into the marble floor. I'd been over it in the boxes a hundred times." Brotherly Love Podcast Joey described how he and his daughter went back and forth, up and down the hallways multiple times, and it was the very last trip that everything went awry. Gerardo Mora / Getty Images "I was like 'All right, this is the last one.' So I was low and I was pushing her and we were not going dangerously fast, but we were getting a good speed because she loved it," he continued. "For some reason, we get this little threshold, and the box completely stopped. This little box did not move. In that matter of seconds, she was gonna fly out." Brotherly Love Podcast "I lunge to get her, and praise God, I caught her with both of my hands, and I got her back in the box. And my momentum when I got her back in the box, I had to jump to get her. I basically flung myself over and realized when my hands are back here and she was in the box, that nothing was between me and the floor." Brotherly Love Podcast "All I could see, literally, not to be too graphic, is a wall of red. I couldn't see anything, but I knew something really bad," Joey said. "My head, no joke, was split about three and a half inches. They called it like a skin splinter." Brotherly Love Podcast He added that the hospital glued certain parts of the injury and stitched only specific parts. "The skin was so delicate and so wide that they weren't able to pull it. So they had to flap it, pull it over, and glue, and I had four stitches on each side." Brotherly Love Podcast Ouch! That looks and sounds like it really hurt, but getting hurt in the most random situations, whether as a kid or an adult, is so relatable. Now, I want to hear from you.
