The families of veterans receiving care there were outraged when they allegedly got an email notifying them that they would be barred from visiting the facility while the Duke of Sussex was present. "Dear families, as you may have heard, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, will visit Sunnybrook's Veterans Centre on November 6," the message read. "This event is closed to all outside guests, including family members of our veterans. We appreciate your support in keeping this event private and focused on our veterans." _ Social media users were outraged by the slight. "How is that helping the veterans when the families of those veterans who are sick and bedridden can't be there?" one person on X questioned. "Prince Harry really is worried about being booed. What a slap in the face for these families," a second person wrote. A third person chimed in, "Sounds like it's all about Harry, not the Veterans." _ Prince Harry also caused controversy with the timing of his trip, which coincided with Prince William's visit to Brazil for the annual Earthshot Prize Awards. "Funny how Harry's 'announcements' ALWAYS coincide with Earthshot Awards," one X user wrote. "Very predictable like clockwork," a second person said. A third questioned, "Why is Harry doing this?" _ Representatives for Prince Harry clarified why the timing was necessary. "The events were planned nearly a year ago. The date of the main event, the dinner, is set by the charity, not Prince Harry," his spokesperson said. _ Prince Harry's camp also pointed out that the date of the Duke of Sussex's visit was only made public so late in the game because he is "not afforded the same level of security and protection as other working members of the royal family."
