The play, written by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, will also star Marylouise Burke (True West) and Margaret Colin (Carousel), with more casting to be announced. Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun, King James) directs the show, which is set to open in spring 2026 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Thomas, known for his role as John-Boy Walton in the television series The Waltons, as well as Ozark and The Americans, recently starred on Broadway in Leon's Our Town, and starred as Atticus Finch in the touring production of To Kill A Mockingbird. Clemons-Hopkins makes his Broadway debut in this production after starring in Hacks and appearing Off-Broadway in Lessons In Survival: 1971 and For The Last Time, among other theater projects. Burke frequently works with Lindsay-Abaire and has appeared Off-Broadway in his plays Ripcord, Fuddy Meers and Kimberly Akimbo. Colin has also appeared on Broadway in Jackie: An American Life and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, among others. The Balusters follows the Vernon Point Neighborhood Association, a small, passionate community which is upended by one neighbor suggesting a stop sign be installed on the corner of the neighborhood's most beautiful block.
