Watch: How Jacob Elordi Transformed for 'Frankenstein' With 42 Prosthetics (Exclusive)Jacob Elordi was feeling less than euphoric about these reactions. Following the release of 2023's Saltburn, many viewers expressed their shock at the scene where Barry Keoghan's character sips Jacob's leftover bathtub water. But as Jacob himself explained, he thought the response gave a look into society's views today. "I actually think it shows me just how prudish we are," the 28-year-old shared on the Nov. 6 episode of Entertainment Weekly's Awardist podcast. "Because when I watch that, I just think there's far more extreme things in cinema that I've seen, far more graphic." The Frankenstein star also compared the scene to what is readily available to watch, adding, "There's more alarming things in the top 10 streamed remakes of crime documentaries on every streaming platform." "I think that's much more alarming," Jacob continued, "the kind of horrible joy that we all get from watching children be mutilated. That's what was interesting to me."readSydney Sweeney Defends Bathwater Controversy With Jacob Elordi ComparisonBut when it came to the Emerald Fennell directed film? He notes Saltburn was just "a piece of fiction with something just a little taboo." "And that makes people's skin crawl," he mused. "It's an interesting parallel."James Gourley/Publishd/ShutterstockThe infamous bathtub scene is one that Jacob has often been asked about, and one-along with the equally shocking gravesite scene-that he was actually thrilled to see on the big screen. "I was just really excited when I read that scene because you don't really see things like that in mainstream movies a lot of the time," he told Stream Wars in 2023. "It's just great that Emerald was allowed to push those boundaries and expose people like that I think." And the boundaries continued to be pushed with the release of a Saltburn-inspired bathtub candle, which Jacob got to sniff in person. Rob Latour/Shutterstock"It smells like a washing room-like detergent," he said on The Tonight Show in 2024. "His clothes are clean." And of course, the Euphoria actor had a few questions about the candles themselves. "I want to know who's making the money," he joked. "Like, 'Great, where's my money?'"
