The "Manchild" singer grabbed nominations in record of the year, song of the year, album of the year, best pop vocal album, best pop solo performance and best music video. The singer also earned six nominations at the 2025 ceremony. The 26-year-old Grammy Award winner released her seventh album, Man's Best Friend, earlier this year. The 12-track pop album is a natural follow-up to Carpenter's equally steamy and at-sometimes-raunchy 2024 album, Short N' Sweet, which earned the singer her first Grammy Award. The album topped Billboard's 200 Albums Chart and was widely considered a Grammy contender heading into the nominations Friday. The song itself is an ear-worm as Carpenter sings about stupid, no good men, paired with Carpenter's signature funny, cheeky lyrics like "why so sexy if so dumb." Carpenter co-wrote the song with her Short N' Sweet collaborators Amy Allen and Jack Antonoff, who both scored multiple nominations today. At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Carpenter performed two of her biggest hits of 2024. The singer channeled old Hollywood for a jazzy version of "Espresso." Carpenter then tore off her black sequined suit look to reveal a baby blue bejeweled bodysuit, picking up the pace on her hit song. The star later accessorized with a matching feathered robe for "Please Please Please" before diving back into a reprise of "Espresso." The pop singer's profile exploded last summer following the release of her 2024 single "Espresso" off the album, Short N' Sweet. The single and album earned Carpenter two Grammy Awards in February for best pop solo performance with "Espresso" and best pop vocal album. Despite not hitting No. 1, "Espresso" was a game changing song for Carpenter.
