But that's not the issue, based on the reactions. Stuart C. Wilson / Getty Images, Gareth Cattermole / Getty Images When Deadline first reported Johnny's role on Oct. 23, the announcement was met with backlash stemming from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor's involvement. Ian West - Pa Images / Getty Images If you remember, Johnny was involved in two highly publicized trials against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, centered around defamation and domestic violence. After a six-week trial, the jury in the defamation case between Johnny and Amber ruled that Amber defamed Johnny on all three counts and awarded him $15 million in damages. In Amber's countersuit, Johnny was found guilty of one of three charges, and Amber was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages. So, when Deadline reported on Nov. 4 that the Severance actor was joining the cast, many people were disappointed. Tramell recently made history, winning an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for his acclaimed performance as Seth Milchick in Severance. He was the first openly gay person and first Black person to win the award. When people complain we're running out of ideas, I didn't realize it was this bad. It's The Muppets Christmas Carol for me, always.
