The film, produced by AGC Studios and Monarch Media, follows Annie (Kendrick) and her husband Aaron (Rogen), a couple wrestling with whether to have children who are unexpectedly thrust into co-parenting when a newly divorced friend moves in with her four-year-old. Rae, Stevens, Cherry and Berlant join the ensemble in supporting roles. Miller Rogen, who previously directed Like Father, is shooting the film on location in Los Angeles with backing from the California Tax Credit program. Babies is produced by Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray for LYLAS Pictures, Stuart Ford for AGC Studios and Steve Barnett for Monarch Media. Executive producers are Miguel A. Palos Jr. and Zach Garrett for AGC, Alan Powell and Vicky Patel for Monarch, and Sophie Høegh for LYLAS. Rae is best known for creating and starring in HBO's Insecure and has recently appeared in Barbie and American Fiction. Stevens, who came to prominence in Downton Abbey, was most recently seen in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the Netflix series Zero Day. Cherry is a regular on Apple TV+'s Severance and co-hosted The Great American Baking Show on Roku. Berlant co-created and starred in the A24/Peacock special Would It Kill You to Laugh? and appears in the upcoming Maddie's Secret.
