In the ex-monarch's memoir Reconciliation, he called the late Princess of Wales "cold, taciturn, distant, except in the presence of the paparazzi." _ Princess Diana and Juan Carlos, who abdicated the throne in 2014, spent time together in the 1980s when the mother of two, King Charles III, Prince William and Prince Harry visited the Spanish royal family's summer home in Palma de Mallorca. According to Andrew Morton's book Ladies of Spain, Diana told friends about what took place between her and the now-87-year-old. "I felt uncomfortable being left alone with him in a room, although I can assure you that nothing happened," she allegedly explained to people in her inner circle. Diana also reportedly called Juan "a very libidinous man." _ Rumors of infidelity weren't unusual in Princess Diana and King Charles III's marriage. The late royal, who divorced the father of her children in 1996, admitted to having romantic feelings for Household Cavalry officer James Hewitt. However, nothing ever panned out. "Yes, I adored him," Diana said in a 1995 interview. "Yes, I was in love with him. But I was very let down." _ King Charles III and Queen Camilla famously snuck around throughout his union with Princess Diana. "Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," the 36-year-old said. "I take some responsibility that our marriage went the way it did. I'll take half of it, but I won't take any more than that, because it takes two to get in this situation."
