Mike White is not opposed to competing on The Amazing Race again - and this time, he's hoping to race around the world with Sydney Sweeney. Sweeney, 28, first expressed interest in competing on the fast-paced CBS reality series with The White Lotus creator, telling Variety on Monday, October 27, "Honestly, Mike and I would be a killer team." White, 55, responded to Sweeney's comments, telling the outlet, "I would definitely win with her. She's the master at getting what she wants. And I mean that in an absolutely good way." Sweeney starred on season 1 of The White Lotus, one of White's most successful projects, after he competed on seasons 14 and 18 of The Amazing Race with his dad, Mel White, and season 37 of Survivor, where he came in second place to Nick Wilson. How Mike White's Incessant Text Messages Got Him Cast on 'Survivor 50' White has never won a reality show, but he will be getting another chance at bringing home the $1 million prize when Survivor: In the Hands of the Fans airs next year. "The thing that's most interesting about Mike playing for the second time is there is no hiding that he is the biggest writer, director, show creator in the world right now, and he wanted to come back and play Survivor," Survivor host Jeff Probst told The Hollywood Reporter in August of the upcoming 50th season of the show. Probst, 63, acknowledged the mixed fan reaction to seeing someone as successful as White come back to play the game, saying, "Some people are really excited to see him play," while others "can't believe he said yes." Probst suggested people stop asking "'Why would you go do it?'" and instead "should be asking, 'Why are you doing it?'" Mel and Mike White on 'The Amazing Race'. Monty Brinton/CBS via Getty Images "I'm surprised people aren't asking, 'Why is one of the greatest writers in the history of Hollywood so interested in Survivor?'" Probst added. "What is it that Mike is learning about humans and behavior and situational ethics that he applies to his craft? Because I think that's part of why he does it - he's out there in a real incubator of human behavior where you never know what's going to happen, but what you do know is that if you show up to play Survivor, you can study it." He pointed out the connection between Survivor and The White Lotus characters, explaining, "And when you watch White Lotus, what are you watching? You're watching human behavior all day. I think that's part of the reason Mike is back, and if you don't understand that, maybe you're asking the wrong question." The show's all-star season will also feature other fan favorites from years past, like Cirie Fields, Aubry Bracco, Christian Hubicki and Angelina Keeley. Both Hubicki, 39, and Keeley, 36, have made the crossover to The White Lotus, with cameo appearances. Will There Be 'White Lotus' All-Stars Season? What to Know "I was a little frazzled; I was running late," Keeley told Vulture in October 2022 of finding out White wanted her to be part of The White Lotus' second season in Italy along with Survivor's Kara Kay. "As I sat down, he goes, 'I'm putting you two in White Lotus.' I was like, 'Oh, that's funny, let's get some mimosas and lattes.' Why would he let us goofballs anywhere near his set? Mike was front row to some of the worst acting moments of my life on Survivor: jacketgate and the fake idol." Kay, 37, chimed in, saying, "Pretty early on we knew there was American Woman No. 1 and American Woman No. 2. He kept saying 'opening scene'; I was like, 'Maybe we're in the background, waving, drinking some cocktails.' Then we got a draft of the script and realized, 'Oh, we have lines, we're going to say something. We're going to be acting.'"
