A Pittsburgh worker suffered a catastrophic injury after falling 50 feet at Acrisure Stadium. The horrific accident took place on Saturday, October 25, when an NBC Sports videographer fell roughly 50 feet from the Steelers' scoreboard one day before the team took on the Green Bay Packers. The videographer, who has not been publicly identified, fell around 10 p.m. as preparations for the game were underway. "At ~ 10 p.m., EMS, Fire and Police responded to Acrisure Stadium for a male worker who had fallen ~ 50 ft from the main scoreboard onto a mid-level catwalk. Rescue medics were able to reach him and lower him to safety," the X account for Pittsburgh Public Safety noted in the early hours of Sunday, October 26. "He was transported to the hospital in critical condition." The Daily Mail reported that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation into the incident. "A crew member installing production equipment suffered a fall. The individual was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, and we are awaiting confirmation of the worker's condition." Us has also reached out to NBC Sports and OSHA for comment. The staff at OSHA are currently furloughed due to the federal government shutdown and it is unclear when a spokesperson can address the incident. KDKA News Reporter Ricky Sayer reported on the incident Saturday night. "So it appears there's some sort of fire department rescue scene going on right now," he explained while reporting live from the stadium. "There is a large number of crew members over here from actually the Sunday night football broadcast team that we can see. And just a moment ago, what I saw is there was someone that appeared to be injured that was taken down in a basket. This is right on the backside of the scoreboard here at Aperture Stadium. And what we can see here is below the scoreboard, there is a structure that's there. And it looked like that there was something going on top of that structure. And it looked like they were taking a person from there, putting them into that basket. They were lowering them. That appeared to be someone who is injured." He added: "And there's this police scene that is going on here. We've reached out to Pittsburgh Public Safety to try to get some concrete information about what's going on here. They haven't gotten back to us just yet. We are keeping a distance from here right now, just as we're still trying to figure out exactly what's going on over there. And again, we saw one person who appeared to have been injured." Sayer followed up with an update shared via X Sunday. "A worker was injured when he fell 50 feet from the scoreboard at Acrisure Stadium last night, per Pittsburgh Public Safety," he wrote. "Medics were able to reach him on a catwalk, stabilize him, and lower him to an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition."
