Jeremy Allen White underwent a true physical transformation to portray rocker Bruce Springsteen in the 2025 biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. The two-time Emmy Award winner has striking physical differences from Springsteen - he's blond and blue-eyed while "The Boss" has darker features. Still, author Warren Zanes - whose 2023 book was adapted into the film Deliver Me from Nowhere - felt that White captured Springsteen's ethos in spite of their physical differences. "I went deeper on The Bear, went back to The Bear, and I was just watching it," Zanes exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2025. "It was that that made me say, 'It has to be him,' but by that time, he was already cast." White is no stranger to physically transforming for his roles - he trained with real pro wrestlers to portray late WWE star Kerry Von Erich in 2023's The Iron Claw and he'll next play the alien crimelord Rotta the Hutt in Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian and Grogu. Elsewhere, White decided to sport a day's worth of stubble to showcase a weariness in Springsteen's life as he battled record executives over his 1982 album, Nebraska. 20th Century Studios / Courtesy Everett Collection "Bruce was a little bit more rough around the edges," Risotto noted. "[The stubble] really changed [White's] face into a gritty, rock 'n' roll superstar." Risotto's team had to walk a fine line because White was committed to shooting The Bear shortly after filming wrapped on Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. "By the time he was ready to go back to the TV show, we'd almost be back to where it was," hair department head Jameson Eaton told Elle. "It's a rockabilly look that Springsteen had for a while," Eaton said. "It was a pretty simple styling process. He was only in the chair for 15 to 20 minutes in the morning." Jeremy Allen White's Hotness Evolution Has Us Saying 'Yes, Chef!' Deliver Me from Nowhere's costumers came up with period-appropriate wardrobe that included real pieces from Springsteen's closet, plus the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee consulted on picking out new clothing options. Costume designer Kasia Walicka Maimone did extensive research on Springsteen's fashion from the early 1980s before deciding on a "reverse process" that did not always strictly adhere to the singer's real wardrobe. 20th Century Studios / Courtesy Everett Collection "It's an attitude that sells the clothes," Maimone told Elle. "Jeremy Allen White was genuinely embracing the spirit of Bruce Springsteen, and he's the one who made those clothes look like Bruce." White confirmed to Vanity Fair that he also wore "a couple of pieces" from Springsteen's real wardrobe to make the movie as authentic as possible. "There's a blue flannel shirt which I wear a few times, and then my favorite piece, which was this sort of tattered white Triumph shirt that I wore for a scene at the end, when I go to see a therapist," he said. "I thought, If there's ever a time to try and feel as close to Bruce as possible, it's that."
