Love Is Blind season 9 made history as the first to not feature a single marriage - but was the experiment still a success? This post includes spoilers for the Love Is Blind season 9 finale. Fans watched six Denver-based couples get engaged sight unseen in the pods, but none of the pairs ended up saying "I do." Joe Ferrucci and Madison Maidenberg, Nick Amato and Annie Lancaster, as well as Patrick Suzuki and Kacie McIntosh all ended their engagements long before the scheduled wedding day. Jordan Keltner and "Sparkle Megan" Walerius followed suit in the finale. Both Anton Yarosh and Edmond Harvey planned to marry their respective fiancées, Ali Lima and Kalybriah Haskin, but the women said "no" at the altar. Does Anyone Get Married on 'Love Is Blind' Season 9? Full Finale Recap "I hope [fans] feel the couples ended up in the right place," executive producer Chris Coelen told Tudum in a Wednesday, October 22, interview. "[I hope] that they enjoy the bravery and vulnerability of our participants, who put their stories out there in hopes of finding something amazing. Coelen, 57, was also "honestly surprised" that no couples tied the knot for the first time in LiB history. "While we're always rooting for our participants to find a lifelong commitment because that's what they all say they come to Love is Blind for, most importantly, we root for them to make the decisions they feel are right for themselves," Coelen said. "I think that's what happened here." And while season 9 didn't produce any lasting love stories, that doesn't mean the LiB experiment wasn't successful. Edmond's fifth grade teacher consoles him after Kalybriah ends their engagement on 'Love Is Blind' season 9. Tyler Golden/Netflix "The experiment is one of the most incredible things I've been lucky enough to be a part of, personally or professionally, and it's amazing," Coelen told Tudum. "Remember that the experiment is an experiment, and it's meant to test two main questions: First, is it possible to fall in love with someone based solely on who they are? And second, if you do fall in love and get engaged, is that love strong enough to overcome the obstacles of the real, material world?" He continued, "In season 9, at least one member of each couple felt their love was not strong enough to overcome the challenges of the real world, and they chose not to get married. That's exactly how the experiment is supposed to work, so I would say not only is the experiment working, I think it's working better than ever." Revisiting the Most Shocking 'Love Is Blind' Breakups After the Reunions Aside from season 9, the Netflix show's record can certainly speak for itself. Throughout the previous eight seasons, there have been 13 marriages, of which only four have ended in divorce, and four babies. As for the season 9 contestants, they have their own theories why no one found The One in the pods. "It's a condensed experiment. Everyone was down to earth enough to be like, 'This is my life, and I don't need to get married to satisfy a bunch of fans,'" Jordan, 30, told Variety on Wednesday. "Everyone made the right choice because we're not getting married just because it plays well on TV. We don't care what the fans think because this is our life. We're regular people." The Love Is Blind season 9 reunion airs on Netflix Wednesday, October 29, at 9 p.m. ET.
