New details surrounding Diane Keaton's death are being revealed. A death certificate obtained by People on Thursday, October 16, confirmed that primary bacterial pneumonia was Keaton's immediate cause of death and that she had the illness for days before her death. She was 79. The document doesn't list significant contributing conditions and says Keaton was cremated on Tuesday, October 14. The news comes just one day after the Keaton family spoke out about the late Oscar winner and revealed her cause of death. "She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her." During her long Hollywood career, Keaton found success on the big screen with noteworthy projects including Annie Hall, Something's Gotta Give and The First Wives Club. In the final years of her life, however, Keaton was able to step outside the acting bubble by dipping her feet in several unique projects. "I don't know what's going to come my way. Maybe nothing's going to come my way," she exclusively shared with Us Weekly in September 2022 about her future career goals. "I've been so lucky, and so I just don't want to push off anything without knowing if I could have a chance to know, would I be doing it or what. I wouldn't knock out anything unless I read something that I really felt that I wouldn't be right for, something like that. That just is not good for me." Keaton's final Instagram post was made in collaboration with Hudson Grace, the home decor company that sold her collection, for National Pet Day in April. Unique is what she was. And, though she didn't know it or wouldn't admit it, man she was a fine actress!" Sarah Jessica Parker added, "I was very privileged to witness her singular skill and talent on both First Wives Club and The Family Stone. I will cherish those memories on set as well her touching, delightful and perfectly own cinematic career. Which is a gorgeous legacy of an exquisite person. She will be terribly missed."
