In the week that it's been out, Showgirl (like all Taylor albums) has been pored over and combed through for references to people in her real life. Once such example is the track "CANCELLED!", which fans speculate could be inspired by her friend Blake Lively. Steph Chambers / Getty Images Taylor's music is famously inspired by her real-life experiences - often her love interests, but also her friends (and enemies). So, here are 13 times Taylor Swift supposedly mentioned people like Katy Perry, Blake Lively, Kanye West, and more over the decades: 1. In her song "Fifteen" from her 2008 album Fearless, Taylor mentions her friend Abigail Anderson for the first of several times throughout her career. In the song, which explores themes of love and friendship in Taylor's first year of high school, she sings, "You sit in class next to a redhead named Abigail / And soon enough you're best friends." Kevin Mazur / Getty Images The song goes on to discuss both Taylor's and Abigail's failed first relationships: "Back then, I swore I was gonna marry him someday / But I realized some bigger dreams of mine," Taylor sings. "And Abigail gave everything she had / To a boy who changed his mind / And we both cried." 2. Abigail was mentioned again in Taylor's song "Ruin the Friendship" off her latest album The Life of a Showgirl. "Ruin the Friendship" is about a male friend from high school whom Taylor had a crush on; she thought at the time it never could have worked out, but says she "should've kissed you anyway." Larry Busacca / Getty Images The song starts off very cute, but takes a dark turn. Taylor, having never acted on the crush, sings, "When I left school I lost track of you / Abigail called me with the bad news / Goodbye / And we'll never know why." The song is believed to be about her high school friend Jeff Lang, who passed away suddenly in November 2010. BuzzFeed TrendingHot TopicThink you're Blondie's biggest fan? The eleventh track on Speak Now, "Innocent," addresses Kanye directly: "It's alright, just wait and see," she sings. "Your string of lights is still bright to me / Oh, who you are is not where you've been / You're still an innocent." Christopher Polk / Getty Images In a 2010 discussion with New York Magazine, Taylor said, "I think a lot of people expected me to write a song about him. But for me it was important to write a song to him." On the track, she seems to strive to forgive Kanye: "It's okay, life is a tough crowd," she sings. "32 and still growin' up now / Who you are is not what you did / You're still an innocent." Theo Wargo / Getty Images 4. It's no secret that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were in an alleged feud for years. When Taylor wrote "Bad Blood" for her album 1989, she didn't name Katy, but she told Rolling Stone about an unnamed "female artist" who inspired the track, telling them, "For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Larry Busacca / Getty Images Then, Taylor said, "She did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational - you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it." "Now we got problems," Taylor sings on "Bad Blood," "And I don't think we can solve 'em / You made a really deep cut / And baby, now we got bad blood." But the "Bad Blood" didn't last all too long - Taylor and Katy made up by 2019, and Katy was even featured in Taylor's music video for the song "You Need to Calm Down." "It just was really, really clear that we remembered how much we had in common." Back in 2015, Kanye and Taylor's feud had also appeared to come to an end. They reunited at the Grammys, and at that year's MTV Video Music Awards, she presented him with the Video Vanguard Award; later that week, she posted that he had sent her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. But in 201
