Chris Jackson found it saddening that And Just Like That ended after three seasons on HBO Max. "I wouldn't say [it was] difficult, just a little sad, but mostly because I just enjoy working with the company so much," Jackson, 50, who played Herbert Wexley, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Only Make Believe 25th Anniversary Gala on Monday, October 13. "There's an incredible cast and incredible creative energy. It's the most fun I've had shooting a television series ever." He continued, "You're always sad that you don't get another bite at that apple, but also [you] just move into gratitude immediately. I'm grateful I had the opportunity, and we got to tell those stories, and now I have more friends. Who doesn't want more friends?" And Just Like That, a revival of HBO's Sex and the City, offered a glimpse of Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) relationships and friendships decades after the original series ended. In addition to Parker, OG show stars Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) also returned for the new series, and their friend group was rounded out by newcomer Nicole Ari Parker's Lisa Todd Wexley. Nicole Ari Parker Addresses 'And Just Like That' Ending After 3 Seasons Lisa, a documentarian, is married to politician Herbert, with whom she shares three children, and they live in New York City's Upper East Side neighborhood. In the final season of AJLT, which aired this summer, Herbert lost his bid to become the city's comptroller while Lisa polished a final cut of her latest documentary about Black women's achievements through history. News broke in May, just weeks before the finale aired, that AJLT would end after three seasons. Jackson found out around the same time. "[I found out] when everyone else did, [but] we had a little bit of a heads up," Jackson told Us, noting his notice was "not much." While AJLT wrapped up most story lines, fans have speculated the cast could reunite for another feature-length film. (Sex and the City famously spawned two movies in 2008 and 2010, respectively.) Craig Blankenhorn / HBO Max / Courtesy of Everett Collection "I have absolutely no knowledge of it," Jackson said on Friday, adding that he'd be open to an onscreen reunion. In the time since AJLT concluded, Jackson returned to his Broadway roots and stepped into the role of Davis in Hell's Kitchen in June, replacing Durrell "Tank" Babbs. Jackson will leave the Alicia Keys-inspired jukebox musical next month. "I'm going to miss being on stage in front of these amazing fans. Folks come to see the show two, three [or] four times. They really enjoy it, the whole story of it," Jackson gushed. "It's a wonderful company, and we're just having a blast." Jackson, of course, is already a Great White Way standout, having previously starred in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton! and In the Heights productions, among others. 'And Just Like That' Series Finale Explained: How Did Season 3 End? "You just do [it]. There's some strategy, but it's pretty much just eight shows a week," Jackson told Us of the often-grueling Broadway schedule. "My [teenage] daughter's been able to come to the theater with me for the first time, really, in her life. It's been awesome to have her here once or twice a week [and] hanging out, being in the environment and absorbing all of it. It's been really awesome." Jackson took a brief break from his Hell's Kitchen tenure to attend Monday's Only Make Believe gala in honor of Anna Wintour and hosted by comedian John Oliver. (The nonprofit brings interactive theatrical productions to children's hospitals at no additional cost.) "Theater is a team sport. It's hard, but it's so rewarding," the actor told Us of the red carpet event. "More than anything, I always stressed that everybody started somewhere - in their first show, their first voice lesson or their first dance class, and there was something about this that made them want to pursue it another day and another day and another day. I think the power of creativity and of imagination and what we're talking about tonight is about waking up every day and feeling empowered, giving yourself permission to be creative and allowing your mind to go down those hills and down those holes and mine out the things that make us feel good."
