Our choices include a camp classic comedy, a high-stakes poker drama, a YA sci-fi action flick and a rom-com with a slight science fiction twist. 'The Maze Runner' (2014) The Maze Runner is the first installment of a trilogy based on the books by James Dashner, and all three of the films are on Netflix this month. 'Death Becomes Her' (1992) Death Becomes Her features Meryl Streep as a faded actress named Madeline Ashton, and her life is miserable. Decades earlier, Madeline stole her husband, Dr. Ernest Menville (Bruce Willis), from her best friend, Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn). Now, the marriage is on the rocks, and Madeline is insanely jealous when she sees how youthful Helen is at age 50. Out of desperation, Madeline buys a magic potion from Lisle von Rhuman (Isabella Rossellini) to reclaim her youth. Miraculously, it works, and it happens to be the secret of Helen's rejuvenation as well. The downside is that the potion has made them nearly immortal, which becomes problematic when they try to kill each other. They can't heal from grievous injuries, and they may be stuck together for an eternity. Death Becomes Her is streaming on Netflix. 'Molly's Game' (2017) Molly's Game is the biopic of Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain), a former championship skier who becomes involved in high-stakes underground poker games in Hollywood. Molly's Game is streaming on Netflix. 9 Must-Watch Rom-Com Movies on Netflix (October 2025): 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' and More 'Sliding Doors' (1998) Get ready to enter the Paltrow-verse in Sliding Doors. There is a multiverse aspect to this romantic comedy/drama, but it's easy to understand. In one timeline, Helen Quilley (Gwyneth Paltrow) manages to make her train on time, which lets her catch her boyfriend, Gerry (John Lynch), with his lover, Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn). But in the other timeline, Helen misses her train and remains blissfully unaware of Gerry's infidelity. In the first timeline, Helen is romantically drawn to an older man, James Hammerton (John Hannah), as she rebuilds her life. Both timelines have common elements and intersect in unexpected ways. But there are real questions about whether Helen will find what she's looking for in either timeline. Sliding Doors will stream on Netflix on October 27.
