The Real Housewives of Potomac's Wendy Osefo publicly spoke out about costar Karen Huger's release from jail days before she was arrested for fraud. "I have not spoken to her since her release," Osefo, 41, said of Huger, 62, in an interview with Deadline published on October 8 - just one day before her own arrest. "However, I feel like everybody should be given the opportunity to have a platform to tell their own story." Osefo continued, "There's no point or purpose in your story being told by others." Huger was arrested following her March 2024 car accident in Potomac, Maryland. She was not arrested at the scene but received multiple citations. Huger was later charged with DUI and DWI. RHOP's Candiace Dillard Bassett Is 'Shocked' by Wendy Osefo's Arrest Nine months after the incident, Huger was found guilty on charges of DUI, DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life and person, failure to control vehicle speed on the highway to avoid a collision, driving a vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on the highway, driving a vehicle on the highway with suspended registration and failure to notify administration of change of address within 30 days. Huger was initially sentenced to two years in jail with one year suspended. She reported to prison back in February. Last month, Us Weekly confirmed that Huger was released after serving more than six months. Osefo's comments about Huger's release came two days before Us confirmed she and husband Eddie Osefo were arrested for fraud on Friday, October 10. A grand jury indicted the couple on October 9 on insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and issuing a false statement to a police officer. According to court records obtained by Us, Wendy and Eddie were booked in Westminster, Maryland, on Thursday. They were released the following day after both posted their individual $50,000 bail. Wendy and Eddie have denied the allegations via a statement from their rep. "Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits," a rep for the pair told Us in a statement at the time. "They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead." The duo claimed at the time that they came home from a trip and found that their house had been broken into and some jewelry and several designer handbags stolen. "Over 20 years, there has been no burglary, like, nothing," Wendy claimed during a September 2024 appearance on the "Gabbing With Gib" podcast. "It's so heartbreaking and again, going back to my earlier statement, at my core [what] centers me is motherhood. My first thought was my kids." An investigation was conducted into the alleged burglary, later determining that many of the items Wendy and Eddie claimed were stolen had been purchased and returned for "a full refund" that "was provided prior to the alleged burglary." Prosecutors alleged the pair claimed a $450,000 personal property loss via an insurance company.
