"The success of the Harry & Meghan doc was built on a finite resource, the public's insatiable curiosity about their decision to leave the royal family and the drama surrounding it," he said. "It was a one-time, explosive event. They pulled back the curtain on the monarchy and that is a story you can only tell once." _ Meghan Markle's show, With Love, Meghan, failed to achieve the viewership of her and Prince Harry's docuseries. The program wasn't included in Luminate's Top 50 Streaming Charts for the period between August 22 and 28, meaning fewer than 1.11 million people watched the second installment in the days after its premiere. _ Still, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle extended their original agreement with Netflix into a first-look deal. "They have shot the golden goose of 2020 - more of a 'we'll call you' than 'here's the checkbook.' It's a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim," publicist Mark Borkowski claimed. "I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo. They're still in business together - Meghan's As Ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window, but make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original.
