Being a dad can be nuts - or it could cost you yours. Ryan Reynolds is a proud father of four, sharing three daughters and a son with wife Blake Lively. The pair welcomed Olin, 2, the first boy in the family, in 2023, and he told Seth Meyers that having a son has made him, well, a little testy. "If I had like three boys at first, I would never - there's no way," Reynolds, 48, joked to the Late Night with Seth Meyers host during an appearance on the Thursday, October 9, episode. "I would give myself a punching vasectomy. Like, there's no way I would allow that to happen." Reynolds and Lively, 38, are also parents to daughters James, 10, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6. The actor explained how life changed once they brought Olin into the mix. Blake Lively Says Her 2-Year-Old Son Is 'So Romantic' "We live in a very, like, there's nothing violent in our home," the Deadpool & Wolverine star said. "There's nothing creepy. [But Olin] came out with three things on his mind. It was violence, breasts and engines." "I really don't understand where this comes from," he continued, adding that having three girls was "so easy," whereas it appears a son has to "break everything." "I'm, like, in direct competition with this young man," he said of Olin. "No he's - I'm the youngest of four boys, and boy do I feel for my mom. You know, like, I really do. My dad, meh. But my mom really." How Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Parent With 'Working Class' Youth in Mind Compare that to how Lively described Olin in a May appearance on Meyers' show. "My little boy is so romantic," she said. "When I walk in, he goes, 'Mama, my love!' Oh, he's just a dream. I mean like, they're chaos. It's chaos at all times," Lively said. "Like, he just announces that I'm the love of his life at all times, which is just the best feeling in the world," she continued. "I get dressed every day, like a girl in middle school, and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I hope he thinks ... I hope he says something.'" Reynolds, meanwhile, reflected on his childhood and the chaos he and his brothers would inflict on each other. "Do you know how many times my brothers had me exit a room not through the door?" he asked. "I was a moving target that they would use. You know cops, what they would use when they're breaking into the place with a battering ram, that was my head. I was the ram." "I mean like when I was 8, I'm not making this up. I knew how to patch drywall," he continued. "That right there says a lot. Like I knew how to - literally, a hole in the wall, I could repair that in less than six minutes before my dad got home perfectly. Like spackle, sand, and paint, we're good." Ryan Reynolds Gets Real About Him and Blake Lively Co-Sleeping With 4 Kids Reynolds and Lively have been together since 2011 after sparking romance rumors following their onscreen collaboration in Green Lantern. They tied the knot in 2012. Lively gushed about her husband during the 36th American Cinematheque Award ceremony in 2022, praising his "heart, his philanthropy, his humor, his integrity, his unmatched work ethic, his self-deprecating levity, his hard-earned depths, and his grace."
