Andy Richter may be busy with his career in comedy - but he is also a dad to two children, son William and daughter Mercy. Richter met Sarah Thyre on the set of The Real Live Brady Bunch in 1991 and the pair tied the knot in 1994. They went on to welcome son William Oscar in 2000 and daughter Mercy Josephine in 2005. In April 2019, Thyre and Richter announced that they had called it quits after 27 years together. "It is with sadness that Sarah and I announce that we have separated and have begun divorce proceedings," he tweeted at the time. "We are extremely proud of the life we've built together and shared with so many friends over the years, and even though our marriage has reached its completion we will always maintain a loving friendship and parenting partnership." The couple got married at their home in West Hollywood in June 2023 with Richter's longtime friend Conan O'Brien officiating the ceremony. After getting married in 1994, the duo welcomed son William in 2000 followed by daughter Mercy in 2005. After 25 years of marriage, Thyre and Richter announced on social media in April 2019 that they were separating. "After careful consideration, @AndyRichter and I have decided to divorce," Thyre wrote via X. "We've shared a wonderful 27+ years and have 2 fabulous kids whom we love and will continue to parent together. Thanks to our friends and family for their support. During a September 2024 appearance on an episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's "Dinner's On Me" podcast, Andy revealed that William came out to him when he was 11. "I said, 'F*** yeah, boy, do I ever.' I said, 'Yes, I do.' He said, well he goes, 'I think that's what I am,'" he explained, noting that he thanked William for telling him and the twosome never spoke of it again. When she was only a child, Andy shared that Mercy was "a complete noodge" to her brother William. "Half the time she's really doing comedy skits. She's hilarious," Andy told Babble in an October 2009 interview. "She's making him crazy, but she's also making him laugh. And she's discovered early on that you're going to catch a lot less hell from adults if you make them laugh while they're mad at you. That's a pretty good skill at age 4. And frankly it's terrifying. "I just started hanging out at her house and I met her daughter. And I started finding myself driving home feeling very, very happy," he said in a September 2024 interview on the "Dinner's On Me" podcast. "That's always been part of the deal for both of us from the first date," he explained on an episode of "Really Famous With Kara Mayer Robinson" in December 2022. "I never once tried to pretend like it wasn't, like the two of them weren't one thing." The couple got engaged in November 2022 after less than one year of dating. "Some non-election news: I got engaged! To a lady! Her name is Jennifer Herrera and she's the best," he wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of him and Herrera. "We've been together since the beginning of the year, and we're getting married next summer. HOORAY LOVE! ❤️❤️❤️." Herrera and Andy tied the knot in June 2023 with O'Brien officiating their wedding after Herrera's friend was unable to do it. "I knew he had done it [before] because he married our wardrobe designer on our show," Andy told Page Six in June 2023. "So I asked him to do it and he did it!" Herrera has continued to support Andy in the audience at Dancing With the Stars season 34 where he is competing alongside pro dancer Emma Slater.
