Thomas Markle and Meghan Markle have been distant since the former lighting director began talking to the press before Meghan and Harry tied the knot in 2018. "I would like to speak to Charles. Of all the people on the planet, he knows what it feels like to be estranged from a child and how tough it is," Thomas said in a recent interview. _ Before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married, Thomas Markle suffered a heart attack. As a result, he was unable to attend the ceremony, leaving King Charles III to walk the former actress down the aisle. "I'm still deeply grateful to King Charles III for doing that. I wish it could have been me," the 81-year-old said. "I wish I could've been there. I was very proud of her that day." _ Despite his rift with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Thomas Markle wishes he could be involved in his grandchildren's lives.
