Stefanie Keenan / Getty Images She told host Alex Cooper, "I didn't want kids. I didn't wanna get married. I thought I was gonna be career girl, and that's it." Axelle / Getty Images Ayesha shared that she was "never the little girl that dreamt about the wedding dress" - instead, she had always kept her eyes "set on [her] goals." Xny / Getty Images She moved to Los Angeles after high school to pursue acting, but her plans changed after she started dating Steph, whom she'd known since she was a teenager. They started dating in 2008, got married in 2011, and within a year, welcomed their first daughter, Riley. Ayesha was just 23. She said, "After we got married, we found out we were pregnant with our daughter so quickly, I didn't even have time to think about what I wanted anymore. It's so interesting. I spent my entire life, like, trying to work towards something, and then it kind of just disappeared, and I didn't think twice about it." Craig Barritt / Getty Images "But after my daughter turned 1, I remember there being a shift and being like, 'I have goals for myself,'" Ayesha shared. "'Like, this doesn't feel right. I love being a mom, but I love doing other things too.'" Medianews Group / Getty Images She also discussed some of the challenges that come with being in the spotlight, particularly when it comes to public criticism. Ayesha said that while she tends to be outspoken, Steph is "gracious" and although "he tries to resonate with [her], he just can't." But even with that, when the clip resurfaced online this weekend, some people still reacted harshly.
Steph Curry's wife, Ayesha, is facing BACKLASH for saying that she never wanted kids, she had her own career goals, and her husband doesn't understand her 😮👀 pic.twitter.com/BZCe96peZc- Slime🐍 (@ItsKingSlime) October 3, 2025 @ItsKingSlime / Call Her Daddy / Via Twitter: @ItsKingSlime Some people accused her of "embarrassing" Steph and being "ungrateful" for the life they've built together. But many others quickly clocked the misogyny and came to Ayesha's defense. Ezra Shaw / Getty Images "She's trying to have a layered conversation about finding your identity being with a superstar husband and being a mom. But yall too stupid and biased to digest the talking points," one X user wrote. The idea that a woman even one married to a superstar, isn't allowed to express vulnerability without being attacked reveals how little people view women as humans."The backlash Ayesha Curry gets whenever she expresses her relationship shows how ingrained misogyny still is. Marriage & motherhood cannot be the centre of anyone's humanity, we all should fulfil passions, have navigated our humanity to its fullest.
