Rob Lowe and Joel McHale both say they've never had plastic surgery - but they have no problem if anyone decides to have some work done. "I'm a big believer in everybody has the best within them that they can bring out however they want to do it," said Lowe, 61, on the Wednesday, July 23, episode of his "Literally! With Rob Lowe" podcast. "Whether it's spiritually or physically or whatever. And if you want better hair, go get it." His guest McHale, 53, agreed. "I know that people are like, 'Oh, they shouldn't have work done,'" he said. "That you can tell when people have work done on their face. It's weird when you can't tell." Rob Lowe Shows Off Shirtless Physique at July 4th Beach Party The two then revealed whether they've had any procedures done themselves. "And I have not had anything done yet. I swear," McHale promised. "Same, by the way, same," Lowe replied, before cracking a joke. "The problem with going on record is then eventually, I get to be 80 and I look like a raisin, and then I show up looking like the dude from St. Elmo's Fire again," he said. "I'm gonna have to cop to it. That's the issue." Lowe has long been the subject of plastic surgery rumors but has never confirmed them publicly. In a January 2024 episode of his podcast, the Parks & Recreation alum credited his youthful looks to his sleep schedule. Rob Lowe Through the Years: The Brat Pack Era and More "I get tons of sleep. Like, an embarrassing amount," he said. "I don't want people to think something is wrong with me. It's a lot of sleep, not 12 hours. But if there's ever 12 [hours] to be had, I'm taking it." "I have it down to a science," he continued. "The eye mask, the Bose noise-cancelling headphones. And I'm gone." Lowe added that his nutrition has also played a role, as he stays aware of his sugar and carbohydrate intake. He's been a vocal advocate for the Atkins diet, even becoming the face of Atkins' ad campaigns. "It makes a big difference," he said. "You're only as good as what you eat." Maybe most importantly, he is now 35 years sober. He called his sobriety "huge," adding that it helps him avoid extra calories and bloating. Part of his sobriety journey has included gratitude lists, which include both his health and sobriety. "Some things never change. My family, our health, my sobriety. And then I go into my dogs and the ability to do a job that I love," he said.
