The event, scheduled for Oct. 4, will take place at a Public Assembly space in Eagle Rock. The nonprofit theater company's marquee fundraiser is described as "part benefit, part performance and part party" designed as a celebration for "where we've been and a recommitment to where we're going." Oscar-winning filmmaker Daniel Scheinert will be joined by Jena Malone (The Hunger Games), Alexandra Metz (The Pitt), Chris Renfro (Oh, Mary!), Ryan O'Connell (Special), Johnno Wilson (Twisted Metal), Brendan Scannell (Heathers), John Fleck (True Blood), Nadine Ellis (Bel-Air), Janina Gavankar (The Morning Show) and Paul Zenas (Exit Interviews). The Soirée will see the above participants reviving standout works. Scheinert, Wilson and Ellis will team on Tale of Two Fathers written by Nic Murphy; Malone and Zenas will collaborate on The Interview written by Erica Dasher and Jessica Garrison; Scannell, Fleck and Metz will swirl Sweet Tea written by Satya Bhabha; Renfro and O'Connell will unite for Maybe Something Good written by Mar Sudac; and more. Also as part of the benefit, Public Assembly will auction off a selection of items including a weeklong stay at a farmhouse in the Hamptons and a weekend stay at an apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, among other items. Public Assembly has become a favorite of theatergoers and creatives for the way the space writes its own rules. On the last Thursday of the month, Public Assembly presents a show featuring three original one act plays based on a theme that was suggested the month prior by the audience. Anyone who has ever attended a Public Assembly show is also eligible to develop a stage piece for the venue. All proceeds from Soirée support Public Assembly's nonprofit mission.
