No one before and after him has done tragedy better than Dilip Kumar. His was a face meant to convey pain. And he did it all heroically. He smiled at grief, letting his eyes convey a sea of suffering. There was a poetic cadence to his frames. Here was a Titan, fighting against gods, standing tall against everything life threw at him. Weathering it all stoically. And in the end, when he shattered, we all broke down with him. His loss became ours. We were left in a state of catharsis as the end credits faded away. A world ended and yet all was right. The end symbolised another beginning.
