Justin Hartley's hit series Tracker is taking the cast changes in stride in season 3 following multiple exits. CBS released the first look at the new season on Wednesday, September 24, which spoiled Us with scenes of Colter (Hartley) body-slamming someone, channeling his inner cowboy while riding a horse and solving cases left and right. "If you want me to help you, you got to tell me everything," Colter said in the sneak peek. "In my experience, every second counts." Fans also got to see Jensen Ackles return as Colter's brother, Russell. The siblings got involved in a bar fight before Russell offered to "rock, paper, scissors" Colter for the last guy left standing. (Supernatural fans will likely pick up on that Easter egg, considering Ackles' Sam and Jared Padalecki's Dean would play that game when delegating undesirable tasks.) Meet the Season 3 Cast of Justin Hartley's 'Tracker' After Multiple Exits According to the official synopsis, the season 3 premiere follows Colter as he "grapples with the shocking truth surrounding his father's death." He joins forces with Russell "to help track down the missing wife and daughter of one of Reenie's clients." Their reunion, however, "finds them mixed up in a chain of events involving a sinister underground operation known as The Process." CBS Fiona Rene is seen in the trailer reprising her role as Reenie. She is the only series regular returning for season 3 after Eric Graise, who played Bobby in the first two seasons, and Abby McEnany, a.k.a. Velma, both departed the hit CBS show. Tracker previously saw Robin Weigert exit the show following the season 1 finale. After viewers started to get concerned about future cast changes, executive producer Elwood Reid exclusively told Us Weekly that onscreen shakeups weren't out of the question. "I do think it's evolving. If I can't evolve those characters - Randy or Reenie or Bobby - they're not just people that just pick up the phone and go, 'OK, here is the answer.' That's when the show is phoning it in," he explained to Us in May. "The challenge is when you got to learn about them, which I thought was interesting. That's the challenge of the show is not having it fall into a formula." Why Did 'Tracker' Lose 3 Cast Members Before Season 3? Shakeups Explained Reid noted that they didn't want Tracker to "fall into complacency." CBS "The only rule I really have of the show is each week Colter is going to come to a new place and there's going to be a new case. How he gets those answers and what he uses on the team, that's all something that's up for grabs," Reid teased. "Meeting these [local] weird characters is something we're going to try to do more of as the season goes on. Just Colter coming in and interacting with other characters. That's fun to see Justin flex those muscles with really good guest cast members." Tracker returns to CBS on Sunday, October 19, at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Paramount+.
