The show airs at 11:35 p.m. ET and PT/10:35 CT. His scheduled guests are actor Glen Powell and singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan.

But two major owners of ABC affiliates - the Sinclair Broadcast Group and Nexstar - say they will not air the show on dozens of local stations across the country amid ongoing discussions with the network."Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming," Sinclair said in a statement on Monday. "Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return."AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNexstar issued a similar statement on Tuesday, saying its ABC affiliates will air local news and other programming while its talks with the network continue."We made a decision last week to preempt 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel's 'ill-timed and insensitive' comments at a critical time in our national discourse," Nexstar said. "We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve."After ABC announced it was suspending the show indefinitely on Sept. 17, Sinclair said that it would not lift the suspension "until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network's commitment to professionalism and accountability."Sinclair also called for Kimmel to make a "direct apology" and a "meaningful personal donation" to the Kirk family and Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization Kirk cofounded.A demonstrator in Los Angeles protesting Kimmel's suspension. The move came after Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, characterized Kimmel's remarks as "truly sick," and threatened to punish ABC and its parent company Disney over the remarks."This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney," Carr said. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."Kimmel's suspension prompted a strong backlash, with critics calling for a boycott of Disney, and hundreds of Hollywood stars signing an open letter condemning the decision to pull him off the air.

In its statement announcing Kimmel's return, Disney said that it "made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country."AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive," Disney said, adding: "We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."Sinclair operates 39 ABC affiliate stations in 18 states and the District of Columbia, according to its website. Nexstar owns 24 ABC affiliates and partners with nine other stations across more than 20 states, per its website.
