Mel Owens is the Season 2 Golden Bachelor. (Disney/John Fleenor)Bachelor Nation, it's time for Mel Owens to find love. The second season of The Golden Bachelor kicks off this Wednesday, Sept. 24, with 23 women competing for Mel Owens' heart. Owens, 66, is a retired NFL linebacker who played for the Los Angeles Rams before becoming a sports lawyer. The divorced father of two found himself in hot water earlier this year over comments he made on the MGoBlue podcast for his alma mater, the University of Michigan, regarding the senior women he'll be dating on the show."They ask me, 'What's your preference?' So I just said 45 to 60, just being honest," he said on the podcast. "And then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, 'You know, if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them.'"Despite Owens' comments, all but one of the 23 contestants on this season of The Golden Bachelor are over the age of 60 - one is even the twin sister of Sandra Mason from Gerry Turner's season of the show! Sounds like this season may be ripe for drama. Here's how to tune into The Golden Bachelor Season 2.
