Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty will have to wait at least a year for the surprise movie to be released. Author Jenny Han was asked about the movie's release date on Thursday, September 18, during a joint appearance on the Today show with Lola Tung, Chris Briney and Gavin Casalegno, saying, "It's still a little too soon to say. But Sarah Kucserka, my co-showrunner, and I have finished a draft, so we're chugging along." Han, 45, did confirm that 2026 would be too soon. "We don't know when it's coming out, but not next year," she added. "We still have to make it." Prime Video announced on Wednesday, September 17, that they greenlit a feature film that will conclude The Summer I Turned Pretty story.
