Watch: Chrissy Teigen Details Taking Ozempic After Loss of Son JackChrissy Teigen was craving something different. The cookbook author is getting candid about her time taking Ozempic, explaining she started taking the type 2 diabetes medication-which has been shown to help with weight loss-after losing her and husband John Legend's son Jack in September 2020. "I had two babies and then I lost a baby a little over 20 weeks," Chrissy explained on the Sept. 18 episode of her podcast Self-Conscious. "My body was just completely stuck. It was like in shock, almost." Throughout the 20 weeks she was pregnant with Jack, Chrissy-who also shares children Luna, 9, Miles, 7, Esti, 2, and Wren, 2, with John-gained an estimated 40 pounds that she "wasn't comfortable with." The weight gain also served as a reminder of her pregnancy loss, which is what ultimately spurred her to try Ozempic. "I remember way before people were even talking Ozempic, before it was like a celebrity thing or talked about," the 39-year-old recalled, "I had tried it for maybe, like a year or so, and noticed no results for three, four months. Zero. Not a pound lost. And then all of a sudden, was finally able to lose the weight that was so reminding me of the baby that I had lost."readChrissy Teigen Reveals Photo From Hairline Lowering ProcedureThe weight loss helped the model's mental health, too, as she'd been "constantly in this deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly with no baby in it." Still, for someone who is such a big fan of food and eating, taking Ozempic-which works by helping curb the appetite-was frustrating for Chrissy. Cindy Ord/VF25/Getty Images for Vanity Fair"I know that logically you need food to have energy," she explained. "It felt like force feeding sometimes, just so I could go about my day and go about my job." The podcast host added that it was "torturous" to not feel hungry but to still need to eat. "I f--king hate that," she confessed. "I love being hungry. I love craving food. I love desiring food. I get so excited to make it, to try it, to taste every part of it." However, one other benefit Chrissy experienced while taking the drug was a changed relationship with food. But she was able to reconcile her time taking the drug with how it changed her relationship with food. Matthew Stockman/Getty Images"I felt released from the prison of thinking about food in bad ways. Good food in bad ways," she shared. "I would think of an avocado as bad. I mean, it's insane what it did for not only like me physically, but mentally." Chrissy joked that "the rules I made up for myself that I thought was right were insane," and it was mostly thanks to Ozempic that she was able to retrain her thinking on food. "I love it. I'm like, 'Do it,'" she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "I have no judgment. If you want to do Ozempic, hell yeah, girl." She added, "I want people to feel more comfortable talking about doing it, because I feel like there's this shame," she continued. "The shame is only from thin people who want you to stay fat. That's really where it's coming from. They're so mad that you're getting thin now, because that's all they have, right? You're dynamic, you have a good personality, and they're
