Jenna Bush Hager has her reasons for not trying a GLP-1 to lose weight. "Food is so good," Bush Hager, 43, told guest cohost Rosie Perez on the Wednesday, September 17, episode of Today With Jenna and Friends. "I haven't done it because I wanna eat, among other reasons." Bush Hager and Perez were having a conversation about the actress' recent girls' trip, during which she couldn't stop comparing herself to others when they hit the beach. "I ate like a pig the whole summer," Perez, 61, quipped. "My girlfriends came up [to the house we jointly rented], and I went, 'Is everybody on the needle?' Everybody was skinny except me. I look like a beached whale." Jenna Bush Hager: My Ex Broke Up With Me When He Saw 'Me in a Bathing Suit' Bush Hager quickly reassured Perez - who appeared to use the word "needle" to denote a semaglutide shot like Ozempic or Mounjaro - that she did not look overweight. While Bush Hager and Perez moved on from discussing weight loss on Wednesday, the Today anchor has previously been candid about her body image journey. "I had a boyfriend in seventh grade who broke up with me after we went swimming together after he saw me in a bathing suit," Bush Hager said on an April 2023 broadcast of Today. "I feel like, even sometimes now, when I feel great - I have three kids [who were born via] three C-sections, I feel really in my body and I think of it as a beautiful thing - I'll walk in a pool and have a moment [of panic]. There's been times when [I've] done this show when people have written about our body and it takes you back to that moment." Jenna Bush Hager Slams Filters for Making 'Everybody Into a Kardashian' Bush Hager, who shares children Mila, Poppy and Hal with husband Henry Hager, now makes sure to teach her little ones to be confident in their own skin. "All we want is loving children. We don't need the star kid, the this, the that. We want kids that are kind," she said at the time. "I sometimes think of people as parents, like, 'You know what, maybe he had news today about his child?' Even if he's not one, but like that kind of stress [or] imagine him holding a baby and then it helps you have empathy for whoever it is." Bush Hager had learned to embrace her body after previous childhood struggles. "A friend [of mine] from camp texted me a picture of myself at camp at the same [age] as Mila [is now]," the former first daughter recalled during an August 2022 episode of Today, noting she was surprised to see a photo of herself in a two-piece swimsuit. "This is the thing about being a girl - and maybe being me - but I remember thinking I [could] never [wear] a bikini, thinking that I was 'the chubby one.' And then I look at this little person, and I'm like, 'You weren't chubby. You were in a bikini and you were owning it, and you loved it.' So why do we spend our days worried about anything like that?"
