King Charles III and Kate Middleton shared a tender moment following the requiem mass as part of the funeral services for Katharine, Duchess of Kent at Westminster Cathedral in London on September 16, 2025. Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and more members of the extended royal family were also on hand for the event, which marked the first Catholic funeral for a member of the royal family in modern British history. It was also the first royal funeral at Westminster Cathedral since it was constructed in 1903. Katharine, who converted to Catholicism in 1994, was married to the late Queen Elizabeth II's first cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. She died at 92 on September 4, 2025.
