David Jon / Getty Images But in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Edebiri debunked this theory once and for all, explaining that even though viewers might be interpreting a romantic vibe between Sydney and Carmen, that's not the intention behind the scenes. Hulu "I feel like we've been saying since [Season] 1, but I don't know if people are starting to believe us now," Edebiri told Vanity Fair. "I do think that like there's something about seeing people where they're really passionate or where they're excelling at something, it can feel exciting and charged. It's a hard thing to talk about because we never get it right. I don't know, my job is to do the thing, and then how you interpret it is how you interpret it." Hulu The FX/Hulu series, created by Christopher Storer, started streaming in June 2022. Hulu For the past four seasons, viewers have watched as Carmy, an award-winning chef, navigates the suicide of his older brother Michael and returns home to Chicago to help run Michael's sandwich shop. The shop evolves into a restaurant, aptly called The Bear, on the hunt for a Michelin Star and positive reviews, but also struggles to make a profit. Carmy enlists the help of Sydney to help run the restaurant and, at the end Season Four, even offers her the full lead of The Bear and says he plans on retiring after the restaurant becomes debt-free. While all of these professional-related events are unfolding, depicting the dynamics of the restaurant's inner workings, The Bear also shows fans the elements of the personal relationships and friendships of our favorite characters. Hulu We've never seen Sydney involved in a romantic relationship on the show but in previous seasons, Carmy has a romantic relationship with his childhood friend Claire (played by Molly Gordon). Things haven't been smooth sailing for those two - they broke up at the end of Season Two when Carmy breaks down under the pressure of opening The Bear. They reunite for a bit in Season Four with seemingly unresolved feelings but, in classic Carmy fashion, their future is still unclear. Syd and Carmy's friendship plays an integral role in The Bear but in the immortal words of Taylor Swift and now Edebiri, it's clear these two are never, ever, ever getting...together. Hulu "But I do think it's professional, and I do think if anything were to happen, it would not be the show that we're making. And I also think it would be so crazy. That man is crazy and that girl is a bad communicator! The restaurant would blow up in like three seconds if anything ever happened," she concluded. Hulu So, what do you think?
