Producers are pulling back the curtain on Eric Dane's canceled appearance at the 2025 Emmys. As part of a larger story about the awards show, producer Jesse Collins was asked about Dane, 52, not taking the stage at Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre on Sunday, September 14. "I don't know the details of that. I just was told that he wasn't able to make it," Collins told Variety on Monday, September 15. "And fortunately, Jesse [Williams] was able to present by himself." The original plan was for Dane and Williams, 44, to reunite on stage while presenting the Emmy for directing for a drama series - which ultimately went to Slow Horses' Adam Randall for "Hello Goodbye." While the pair were set to acknowledge the Grey's Anatomy anniversary, producers canned the idea without Dane. (The Gilmore Girls reunion between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, meanwhile, included a full replica of their Stars Hollow house.) Dane has yet to address why he was absent from the event. Less than one week before the show, he was confirmed to present. While walking the red carpet ahead of the show, Williams teased his reunion with Dane. "It's really wonderful," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I had a really wonderful time working with him, in particular, but the show has had - everywhere I go - the show has had, and continues to have, a really remarkable, emotional, intellectual impact on people all over the globe." Williams continued, "He's solid. The man's just solid, and we have to be careful, you know, as men to still, you know, take care of ourselves and he's got a perfect balance going." "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter," he noted in an April statement. "I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to [the] set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time." Dane went on to share that he was beginning to lose function of his right arm. "My left side is functioning. My right side, [which is my dominant side], has completely stopped working," he explained during a June appearance on Good Morning America. "[My left arm] is going. I feel like maybe a couple, a few more months and I won't have my left. ... I'm worried about my legs."
