Christopher Polk / Getty Images Social media entered full sleuth mode when Selena was spotted whispering something in Taylor's ear that made her jaw drop, with everybody desperate to know what it was that she said.
The rumor mill quickly started to speculate that Selena was telling Tay that she'd asked Timothée Chalamet for a photo, only for his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, to turn the request down, but Selena firmly denied this theory.
Commenting on E! News' Instagram post about it, the star revealed: "Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that's anyone's business." And when Meryl Streep and Martin Short were spotted holding hands at the Only Murders In The Building Season 4 premiere in August of that same year, people put two and two together and basically decided that Meryl and Martin were the two friends that Selena was talking about. Michael Buckner / Getty Images It's worth noting that Selena herself has never confirmed this, and Meryl and Martin are also yet to publicly confirm their romance - but they've been spotted looking pretty cozy together on other occasions since. Kevin Winter / Getty Images Fast-forward to now, and Selena has seemingly been caught yapping about Meryl and Martin once again, this time at the 2025 Emmys, which took place on Sunday night. Cbs Photo Archive / Getty Images In a video of the star-studded audience that was posted to X by Deadline, Selena can be seen glancing over at her Only Murders co-star Martin, who is beaming while looking down at his phone. Deadline / Via x.com She then pulls a definitive "aww" face before turning to her fiancé, Benny Blanco, and seemingly saying to him: "Marty's texting Meryl." Deadline / Via x.com The clip has since gone viral, with one of the top comments joking: "Why do people always catch her gossiping 😭😭😭 she's so me.""she is always at the scene of the crime omg love her," somebody else quipped.
Others noted Martin's huge smile in the video, with one user sharing a screenshot of it and tweeting: "His big ass smile while texting her omg 🥹" While another wrote: "him texting her with that huge smile, the love we all deserve."
