On Sunday night at the 2025 Emmy Awards, Rogen picked up the trophy for best actor in a comedy series for his role in The Studio. "This is amazing. I so could not wrap my head around this happening, that I literally prepared nothing," he said while accepting. "I've never won anything in my life." Rogen continued, "When I was a kid, I bought a used bowling trophy at an estate sale and my parents were like, 'Yeah, that's a good idea, you should probably buy that.' Thank you to my wife, my mother, everyone who works on the show, my agents, my managers, the writers, everyone who guest starred on the show." Rogen's win also comes after White won the award in the same category for the past two years in a row. The Studio, which debuted on Apple TV+ on March 26, is a Hollywood satire that follows the head of the fictional Continental Studios, Matt Remick (Rogen), who struggles with being in charge. In addition to starring, Rogen co-created, co-wrote and co-directed the show along with long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg. And like other industry series, there were many guest stars, including Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Zoƫ Kravitz, Dave Franco, Ice Cube, Ron Howard, Zac Efron, Ted Sarandos and more, who all played a version of themselves. The Studio was tied with The White Lotus by scoring 23 noms this year. (See the full winners list here and red carpet arrivals here.) The series also took home nine Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony last weekend. The show was also renewed in May, a couple of weeks before the season one finale aired. Hours after the 2025 Emmy nods were revealed in July, Rogen told The Hollywood Reporter, in an interview published in August, about season two's plans. "In the first season, there's a general throughline of it being my first year as a studio president and I had to lean into IP to make The Studio more financially stable, basically. We do want that to evolve and we don't want that specific storyline to be the driving motivation for every season," he said. "The general conundrum of art versus commerce is a theme that we really like and will continue to lean into. But how it manifests itself in how the season is structured will evolve. We do have a lot of ideas as to how to explore different elements of that." The 77th Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, are telecast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on CBS from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET.
