For the fourth through sixth books, Jaxon Knopf (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Rhys Mulligan (Matilda the Musical), and Nina Barker-Francis (Wolf King) will take over the roles. And earlier this week, additional cast members were announced, and the popular names were met with mixed reactions, considering the backlash author J.K. Rowling has faced for her anti-trans rhetoric. Chris Jackson / Chris Jackson/Getty Images If you didn't know, in addition to her public stances, she helped fund a group that aided in the UK Supreme Court to no longer view trans women as women, and even J.K. created a private "legal fighting fund for women protecting their sex-based rights." The author's fight against trans people has led to several boycotts of Harry Potter projects, including the upcoming HBO series featuring Nick Frost, John Lithgow, and Paapa Essiedu. Lia Toby / Getty Images While the popular franchise will always have a loyal following, there were many people displeased with this latest announcement. In this Reddit thread, one person said, "Deep long sigh. These people aren't voice actors that are struggling to make rent, they're all incredibly wealthy and have the clout to decline something like this." Another person said, "they are really trying to wring every last drop of money out of this franchise huh... also I don't understand why SO MANY well liked actors are willing to attach their names to this?! it's not like they're hurting for cash." Other people questioned the purpose of a new audiobook series, given that two versions are already available. "Do we really need another audiobook version of the series? Jim Dale did a fabulous job, and I know the Stephen Fry version is loved as well. I don't feel the need to listen to a bunch of celebrities read the different characters. If I wanted that I'd watch the movies," someone wrote. However, as I stated before, not everybody is pressed by the latest cast announcement. It's definitely a mixed bag of reactions.
