American Girl has gone goth. The Mattel-owned toy company has debuted a new limited-edition Wednesday Addams collector doll inspired by the hit Netflix series and its star, Jenna Ortega. Available for preorder for $295 at American Girl and Amazon, the 18-inch Wednesday doll features the moody teen's iconic pigtail braids with bangs and wears her signature black velvet dress, black mary jane shoes and black nail polish. She comes with a Thing figurine, two bags of piranhas (perfect for exacting revenge on unsuspecting bullies) and a faux obsidian "W/M" necklace gifted from her mother, Morticia Addams. It comes an exclusive collectors box with a numbered certificate of authenticity (only 6,000 will be available) and orders begin shipping on or by Aug. 21. Mattel Directed by Tim Burton and produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Wednesday season two premieres on Netflix on Aug. 6 with the first four episodes, followed by part two with the remaining four on Sept. 3. Already renewed for a third season, the new installment sees Wednesday returning to Nevermore Academy, "the first time you've ever willingly returned to a school," quips Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) on the ride there. Season two also stars returning actors Emma Myers, Isaac Ordonez, Luis Guzmán, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Oliver Watson, Moosa Mostofa, Joy Sunday and Victor Dorobantu. Newcomers include Steve Buscemi, Haley Joel Osment and Billie Piper. Watch the official trailer for the new season below. In their first-ever joint interview, Burton and Ortega explained what drew them to Wednesday. "I've never done television, so it was the idea of exploring something on a longer time frame, and she's an interesting character. As much as a middle-aged man could feel like a teenage Wednesday Addams, I feel those things. And she's a character that's all about being subtle because she doesn't really have a huge range of emotions," Burton told The Hollywood Reporter. Ortega added, "She's also one of the few protagonists who is able to get away with that, aside from villains - who tend not to have emotional growth or depth. ... I will say maybe I feel even more attached to her now." It's not the first time that Mattel has crossed into Addams family territory. The El Segundo-based company also released Monster High dolls last year inspired by Wednesday and her werewolf BFF, Enid Sinclair, and a Fisher-Price Little People figurine set.
