Back in 2004, ex-Jon & Kate Plus star Kate Gosselin made headlines after welcoming sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Aaden, Joel, Alexis, and Leah. And in a recent TikTok video, Kate opened up about what it was like welcoming her sextuplets via C-section. Donna Svennevik / Getty Images Before getting into Kate's quotes, it's important to highlight that two of her kids, Collin and Hannah, are estranged from her and live with their dad in Pennsylvania.

Collin has talked openly about getting separated from his siblings in 2016 when Kate sent him to a facility for children with "psychiatric and behavioral problems" - and in 2023, he claimed that Kate repeatedly took out her "anger and frustration" on him. Kate has firmly denied any claims of abuse. Kate shared, "I went into the hospital at 20 weeks, I wanna say... I was in for 10 weeks, until they were born, and I stayed 5 days after." Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com Going on to detail the "lasting effects" of the pregnancy, Kate pointed to her bra line and began, "When I was pregnant with them, my stomach was squished up here." She then added, "My bladder was squished way down, like, compressed the whole time from baby weight. Compressed, compressed, compressed." Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com Kate explained that she had a long-term indwelling catheter inserted when she gave birth. "I think they went to remove it the next day ... all day, I could not pee. I had this pain that kept growing and growing. I was nauseous, my stomach hurt, it just kept getting worse and worse," she said. Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com Kate then said that the medical staff eventually used a Foley catheter, which she filled "one and a half times." She shared, "Turns out that my bladder was so compressed that it lost its ability to do what a bladder is supposed to do, it's a muscle. It lost its elasticity." Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com "Ever since then, my bladder has never been right," she added. Kate went on to reveal that she noticed another lasting effect days after leaving the hospital. "Probably TMI to be honest, but... I was having really weird, awful pains, and a chunk of something came out," she said, noting that she "kept it" and showed it to her doctor. Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com "It turns out there were pieces of placenta left in me, which could [cause a] horrific infection. I think he put me on antibiotics, and after that, I was fine, but he went in and dug around, for lack of a better word," she said. Kate Gosselin / Via tiktok.com According to the American Pregnancy Association, a retained placenta is one that has not been expelled after 30 minutes of delivery. "If a retained placenta is not treated, the mother is susceptible to both infection and extreme blood loss, which could be life-threatening," their website states.

Kate also added, "I had low muscle tone, I could only walk like an old lady, really, for a long time. I had the up-and-down, hideous scar... that I had a tummy tuck to get rid of." Let us know what you think in the comments.
