In addition to announcing the premiere date and cast, Hulu also shared a synopsis for the new season. "After their beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short) and Mabel (Gomez) refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond - where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters and the mysterious residents of the Arconia," the description read. "The trio discovers a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them - one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge." Martin and John Hoffman co-created the comedy-mystery show, and they executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith and JJ Philbin. Only Murders in the Building is produced by 20th Television. The premiere date comes after the show received seven nominations for the 2025 Emmys, including one in the best comedy series category. Only Murders in the Building also scored two wins at the 2025 SAG Awards, including the honor for best comedy series ensemble. And Short won best actor in a comedy series. Both Short and Martin did not attend the ceremony, so Gomez and a handful of other co-stars accepted the best comedy series ensemble award on their behalf. "Wait, we never win," Gomez said while appearing surprised. "This is so weird." Gomez then poked fun at her absent co-stars by adding, "OK, well, Marty [Short] and Steve [Martin] aren't here. You know, they don't really care. But I just... I don't know what to say." Kind then advised her to thank Short and Martin, and Gomez obliged and added that the comedians "raised" her. "I genuinely am just so grateful. Everybody, the writers, everyone deserve this. I take it home for all of us, and I'm bringing this back to New York for season 5. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful! Thank you, SAG-AFTRA," Gomez concluded in her speech. "Thank you to everybody. I love you."
