Back in 2010, five young lads auditioned individually on a British television music competition AKA The X Factor (UK) but surprisingly failed to proceed past the bootcamp stage of the show. These five boys- Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne, who didn't make it to the boys category on the show, came to be known as One Direction - internet's first boy band in the indefinite success that followed. One Direction wasn't just a band, they were a global phenomenon that still reigns in pop culture.
