The iconic English band Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and frontman John Michael 'Ozzy' Osbourne. At 15, Osbourne dropped out of school and was employed as a construction site labourer when he posted a note at a local music shop that read, "Ozzy Zig needs a gig". That message resulted in a collaboration that would lay the foundation of heavy metal music and change the sound of rock forever.
