For example, imagine my surprise as I, someone who is closer to 30 than 25, sit on my couch watching Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner playing at the US Open, only to discover that the world's top two tennis players are aged 22 and 24, respectively. I was quickly humbled. But, before we get into this list of surprisingly young stars, we all know that aging is a big talking point in show business, especially for women. So, let me clarify that my surprise at these celebs' youthfulness has nothing to do with what they look like, but everything to do with how long they've been around, how they've been presented, and what they've contributed to pop culture over the years. Honestly, it's actually a compliment! So, without further ado, here are some celebs who are younger than you probably thought they were. 1. Adele is 37 Jason Merritt / Getty Images, Kevin Mazur / Getty Images Birthday: May 5, 1988Given that she names her albums after her ages, Adele being only 37 shouldn't come as a surprise to me. Yet somehow it does. I think it's because she's got that old soul thing going on and, from my memory, was always styled in fairly mature looks, even when she was in her late teens and early 20s. I mean, the irony of her singing "When We Were Young" when she was literally 25. Girl! 2. Lorde is 28 Lester Cohen / Getty Images, Pascal Le Segretain / Getty Images Birthday: November 7, 1996She dropped "Royals" when she was 16, and she's been delivering ever since. No notes. 3. Jalen Hurts is 27 Christian Petersen / Getty Images, Taylor Hill / Getty Images Birthday: August 7, 1998Imagine my shock when I discovered that Jalen and I were born just a few months apart. He is a married Super Bowl champion. I have a coffee machine that I get good use out of. 4. Scarlett Johansson is 40 Evan Agostini / Getty Images, Karwai Tang / Getty Images Birthday: November 22, 1984Scarlett has been on our screens for a long, long time and recently became the highest-grossing actor in cinema history - and you're telling me she's only just turned 40?! It's also worth remembering that she started out super young and was literally only 17 when she starred in Lost In Translation opposite a then 52-year-old Bill Murray. Wow. 5. Kylie Jenner is 28 Barry King / Getty Images, Ernesto Ruscio / Getty Images Birthday: August 10, 1997This might seem like an obvious one, but I am always so mind-blown whenever I remember how young Kylie actually is. She was 17 in the King Kylie era, 18 when she launched Kylie Cosmetics, and 20 when she had her first child - what a life. 6. Lil Wayne is 42 Ray Tamarra / Getty Images, Astrida Valigorsky / Getty Images Birthday: September 27, 2024Lil Wayne is another star who achieved big things at a surprisingly young age. He was discovered and signed to Cash Money Records in 1993 when he was only 11, and by the time he turned 17 in 1999, his first solo album had gone platinum. 7. Sophie Turner is 29 Danny Martindale / Getty Images, Olga Gasnier / Getty Images Birthday: February 21, 1996It's either the Game of Thrones of it all, or the fact that she got married and had kids pretty young, but why did I always think our girl Sophie was older than this? She's lived so many lives! 8. Nick Jonas is 32 Jesse Grant / Getty Images, Kevin Mazur / Getty Images Birthday: September 16, 1992OK, I know the Jonas Brothers were all very young when they were the biggest thing in the world in the 2000s and 2010s. But, what do you MEAN Nick is only 32?! Meaning he was only 22 when he released the absolute bop that is "Jealous"?! For some reason, that makes no sense to me. 9. Billie Eilish is 23 Araya Doheny / Getty Images, Jeff Kravitz / Getty Images Birthday: December 18, 2001She's maybe the most surprisingly young, extremely talented person of her generation? I mean, what other 23-year-olds currently have 10 Grammys and two Oscars? Whenever I remember she was 13 when she released "Ocean Eyes," my mind explodes a little. 10. Keira Knightley is 40 L. Cohen / Getty Images, Claudio Lavenia / Getty Images Birthday: March 26, 1985I think the confusion around Keira's age comes from the fact that she took on adult roles even when she was very much still a teenager. What do you mean she was playing a married woman in Love Actually at 17? 11.
